So, attempts to lure some guys at work into picking up the game are slowly producing fruit. One of them came over last Saturday, and I walked him through the basic rules, and pushed some models around the floor. He seemed to be picking things up quickly enough, so I lent him my 5th rule book and the Ork Codex. He seemed really into the Orks, which should be cool. I told him to pick up Black Reach, and he seemed receptive to the idea.

Anyway, fast forward a few days, and now we are meeting over at a different work friend's house, as others want to participate in the learning session. This is perfect; a chance to show the game off, and help guide new players in, while doing really basic level rules teaching.

I told him to attempt to build a basic 500 point Ork list. The plan is for me to bring terrain and 2-3 500 point armies to fight against. I'm thinking a Suit filled Tau list, as he mentioned that his brother might be interested in something along those lines, along with a Tyrant/'fex 'Nid list, showing it off and perhaps getting someone interested in buying it, perhaps. Old codex, but whatever. I could do PDFs, but I suspect the physical version of the rules will help A LOT here.

The last list I figured would be the 'boss' list, so it's time for the ladies. An Immolator and two Rhinos should do the trick, filled to the brim with power armor. The Immo's got Linked Heavy Bolters, and the Palatine has a Combi-flamer, but otherwise it's all Bolters. We'll see, though I've found that this is about... 25 points under the maximum number of 3+ saves (T3, too, but whatever) that you can fit into said transports.

I have a self challenge for myself that I'm curious to see if I can do. I'm off tomorrow, and otherwise have two mornings between now and Saturday. I'm curious to see if I can have a entirely painted 500 point Sisters list by then... By my rough count, I have somewhere near 10-15 Sisters and a Immolator to paint. Previously, it's taken me 1-2 hours to paint one Battle Sister, so we'll see...

Ugh, not much new stuff to post. I've been working on my Grey Knights, getting them ready for the new codex. The things I've been doing should, hopefully, all stand the change. I've been busy magnetizing a dreadnought, along with painting up some models. I've got a Terminator and a PAGK down in what I think is going to be the new style; we'll see, it's dark, but a bit of a blue highlight/wash could help give it some punch. It should give a look remarkably like this blogs color scheme, actually...

Either way, I've also created a new Sisters list, this one Mechanized. Thanks to a new Predator I just recently got, I have 3 Rhinos, now. Here's the list.

Talked to a guy at work, it seems that his group of friends plays Heroscape, but were looking at switching to a new game. I took the initiative, and mentioned 40k, and it seemed that they had already been considering it. I mentioned that I played, and that he should get into the game. While I was at it, I offered some of my extra models to help some of his less monetarily fortunate friend get into the game. It seems he was already looking at Tyranids, and I just happen to have a set that I don't really want anymore...

We'll see, there might be a new group of people that get into the game...

Haven't posted in forever, but I have been busy, sorta. Things have been going well from the gaming side of things, lately for me. The first is that I got taxes back, and actually ended up with some spending cash, for once. This, combined with the congealing rumors of a new Grey Knight codex has me now looking down the barrel of some 1500-2000 points of semi-new models to paint up. No pictures yet, but I do have a list!

Ok, I took some pictures of my Sisters the other day, and I thought I'd upload them here. This isn't all of them, as it's missing two Chimera's and a number of basic Sisters. Most of them aren't painted, though, so... yeah. Most of what I HAVE painted is here, though.

Here's a better shot at the Rhino's and that Imagifer in the back. I like her, as I always imagine she is playing capture the flag or something...
And this last one is a better focus on some of the more painted models. I need to work on my photography skills. I like using the gloss hardcoat, and that doesn't really work well with flash...

Assassin Part 2

You know, I should have linked a picture of what my assassin was actually a model of. It's a Sister Compassion model from Dark Ages Games. I have no real idea about the game, but I found her and few others from the game in a bits box at my local game store. They were like a dollar each, so I picked up a few. Here's a picture of her in more 'natural' colors.

Mines a little darker, obviously. But it was a simple job. I just clipped the hair from her hand, pulled it away, then made a sword-arm band thing. I guess the sword 'phases in' when she activates it?

Over on Santa Cruz Warhammer, the question has come up about using non-Games Workshop models in Warhammer games. I've got a Callidus Assassin that I've been working on, based off a model from one of the Sisters from the Dark Ages game. Here's some pictures.

The arm is a green stuff combination with one of those little pink plastic sword toothpicks. The other end of the toothpick is on one of my Grey Knights. I'll post him later.
